ORS, an office furniture recycling company, appointed RS Electrical to undertake an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) at its warehouse facility in Burton-on-Trent.
Once testing commenced, it became apparent that the existing electrical installation was unsatisfactory and that extensive remedial works would be required. RS Electrical produced a detailed condition report for the client and worked collaboratively with them to establish a practical and cost-effective route forward.
The resulting programme involved substantial electrical remedial and rewire works designed to bring the installation up to the required standard while allowing ORS to continue operating from the facility.
- Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) at ORS's warehouse facility

- Works planned and delivered to allow ORS to continue operating from the facility throughout

Challenges and delivery
A key challenge was delivering the works within a live operational warehouse containing significant volumes of stock.
RS Electrical worked closely with the client to phase the programme, allowing different areas of the building to remain operational while electrical works were undertaken elsewhere. This helped minimise disruption while maintaining a safe working environment for warehouse operatives, visitors and our own engineers.
An SMSTS-qualified supervisor was present throughout the project, overseeing progress, quality and health and safety.
As the project progressed, increasing stock levels and reduced availability of client personnel created additional logistical challenges and restricted access to certain working areas. These issues were identified and discussed with the client, allowing working arrangements and sequencing to be adjusted while maintaining progress.
Completion and outcome
Prior to handover, RS Electrical completed a thorough inspection of the installation and addressed all identified snagging items.
Full O&M documentation was provided together with any required client familiarisation, ensuring the completed installation was properly documented and ready for ongoing operation and maintenance.
The project was completed in line with the programme agreed with the client, with no additional cost implications and disruption to the client's operations kept to a minimum.
No post-completion call-backs or issues were reported.
The project demonstrates RS Electrical's ability to investigate existing electrical installations, develop practical remedial solutions and deliver substantial electrical works safely within challenging live industrial environments.
